Case Study: Website Design & Content–Texas Ropewicks

Project Overview

Client

Texas Ropewicks

Project

Research, design, create, and stand up a simple but engaging and informative website to sell agricultural equipment

The need for this equipment has passed, so the website is no longer live.

Scope

Research and write or curate the copy, and identify and incorporate images for the website; design and create the website

Project Brief

The target audience was farmers, primarily in West Texas. The common herbicide glysophate had lost effectiveness on a number of persistent weeds that interfered with growing and harvesting row crops.

Problem

Create an information and marketing website for an agricultural business that sold herbicide equipment that solved pest problems for farmers struggling with glyphosate-resistant weeds.

My Role

I was responsible for the entire research, design, and creation process. This included

  • copy and microcopy: both research and curated information from the parent company
  • wireframes in various fidelities
  • iterations
  • final mockups
  • construction, updates, and maintenance in WordPress

Process

I met with the franchise owner to determine his expectations for the website, then designed wireframes, which I iterated on based on feedback from the franchise owner and the parent company.

Once the owner approved the design, I built the website in WordPress and maintained it until the business closed.
